In Rhode Island, a cat showed up at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which specializes in caring for people with severe dementia. Although the cat, named Oscar, is generally unsociable, it has an uncannily accurate record in predicting the deaths of patients.

Doctors report that when a patient is about to die, Oscar will spend time with the dying patient. When nurses put Oscar next to a patient they thought was dying, Oscar left and sat by another patient instead, who diked first.
