Everyone knows that the military uses dogs in war, but they’ve also tried numerous times to use cats in war as well. During World War Two, the United States’ OSS (Office of Strategic Services, the precursor of the CIA) needed a way to guide bombs to sink German ships. Somebody thought that since cats dislike getting wet and always landed on their feet that you could attach a cat to a bomb and drop it near an enemy ship. The cat’s instinct to avoid the water would force it to guide the bomb to the enemy’s deck.

Fortunately for the cats, the plan never got past the testing stages since the cats had a bad habit of becoming unconscious mid-drop. Also nobody figured out how to make a cat guide a falling bomb to a ship, which goes to show you that maybe humans aren’t that smart after all.
