How long will your cat live? If the cat had its way, it would live long enough for you to continue serving it for the rest of its life. However, a more specific estimate is approximately 15 years. Not surprisingly, mixed breed cats tend to live longer than purebred cats, most likely because purebred animals of any kind often inherit genetic problems that rarely affect mixed breeds.

Also not surprising is that indoor cats tend to live longer, approximately 16.875 years while outdoor cats tend to live less, approximately 5.625 years. Since outdoor cats face numerous dangers everyday such as cars, dogs, and people, outdoor cats risk premature death due to injuries that indoor cats never face (unless you happen to drive your cat through your living room on a regular basis).
