Catalina Island is a resort off the coast of Southern California near Los Angeles. For some odd reason, they have a large feral cat population. Whether people bring their cats to the island and lose them or simply abandon them there is unknown, but a host of volunteers help catch, neuter, and release the feral cats that help keep down the rodent population.
One woman, Diane Stone, brings food for the feral cats in a golf cart that she parks near the Catalina Casino. The next time you visit Catalina Island, take a moment to look for Diane and the feral cats of Catalina. If one of these feral cats catches your fancy, you could contact the local authorities and adopt a new kitty for yourself.
