For years,  Hamish McHamish, a fluffy ginger cat has freely roamed the streets of the historic Fife town, becoming a local celebrity in the process. In April, the provost of Fife, Jim Leishman, even unveiled a statue of Hamish McHamish in his honor, which stands in the town’s Church Square.

Hamish McHamish passed away at the age of 15 years old after battling a chest infection. “In the end, the chest infection that he had been battling proved too much for him and the kindest thing to do was to let him go,” Hamish’s Facebook post noted.
