The Tree House Humane Society animal shelter has a no-kill policy. That means they usually have a surplus of animals that need good homes, so to increase the odds that people will want to adopt a pet, the Humane Society is opening Chicago’s first cat cafe.

According to Tree House’s development director Jenny Schlueter, “What we’re looking at is having a very small kiosk in the lobby when people walk in,” she said. “You can order something, and we’ll have three rooms adjacent to the lobby with glass walls.”

As cat cafes become more popular around the world, people are discovering they’re a great place to get acquainted with different cats and then choose which cat might be right for you. The more cat cafes around the world, the more cats will likely find a loving home where they can destroy its curtains and sofas.
