According to the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA), there are approximately 200 feral cats left in the city thanks to a vigorous program to trap and neuter strays. However, Surrey has between 20,000 and 34,000 feral cat, creating a cat crisis for the city.
To deal with this growing cat crisis, volunteers are trying to get a similar trap, neuter, and release program in Surrey. If you live near Surrey and need a cat, consider adopting a cat as soon as possible. One more cat off the street may not seem like much, but every cat that finds a good home is one more cat that won’t have to live a feral life without a loving family to care for it.
