In the old days, people who liked cats were often stigmatized as crazy cat ladies who ate cat food out of a cat while letting hordes of cats overrun their house or apartment. While that sometimes is true, most cat people aren’t crazy. Instead, the latest survey shows that  82 percent of respondents like people who own cats, and 71 percent said that stigmas about cat owners are “outdated.”

Nearly 80 percent of those polled think so-called “cat people” are intelligent, along with warm, friendly, and independent. Slightly fewer — just 63 percent — said cat people are attractive. So if you want to improve your life and your standing among others, just adopt a cat.
