In early 2014, Russell the cat’s home burned down and left him with severe burns on his face and body. During Russell’s year long stay as a patient at the Animal Emergency Hospital and Urgent Care Clinic in Raleigh, North Carolina, he has taken it upon himself to greet and comfort newcomers to the clinic.

“He’s incredibly engaging. He wants to meet all our patients. He just wants to be with them,” Alan Wilford,a clinic staffer, said. “I don’t know if he can sense that other animals are in pain or have stuff going on, but he does seem to have some weird knack for connecting with patients, even when you wouldn’t think they would.”

Obviously cats can bond and share emotions with other animals, so it’s nice to see Russell the cat has found a new life as the clinic cat. Perhaps Russell could expand his healing operations to include human beings as well.
