Cat cafes have been popular in Asia for years. Now they’re finally coming to North America. At first, the idea of a cat cafe was a rare occurrence. Now it seems like every month another city is getting a cat cafe.

Orlando is the latest American city to get its own cat cafe. The Orlando Cat Café will be a 750-square-foot café in Clermont, Florida. Through a partnership with the South Lake Animal League, customers can mingle with adoptable cats.

Owner Sandra Cagan, who will break ground on the space with her husband, Jeff, to the tune of $75,000 this October, said, “We have many residents and visitors who may not want their own pet; or work long hours and travel and do not want the responsibility of owning a pet.”
