In case you’ve ever had a cat knead its paws against your legs, stomach, or arm, you may be wondering what’s the purpose of kneading. Originally when cats are kittens, they knead their mothers’ bellies to stimulate the production of milk. Thus this kneading behavior is simply a sign of trust and affection.
Of course, ripping the drapes and sofa apart may also be your cat’s way of showing affection, or simply showing you who’s really boss in the house. The next time you feel your cat kneading you, your cat could be showing you signs of love, or simply wiping its dirty paws on your clean clothes.
