Tammy the cat was born in March 1990. Back then, Margaret Thatcher was running England, Madonna’s Vogue was number one and Taylor Swift was still a baby. Now 26 years and 26 days later, the feline from Macclesfield in Cheshire is on the verge of becoming the oldest cat in the United Kingdom.
Tammy was bought as a companion for Anna when she was four, and since then she and owner Anna Gough have been inseparable. Ms Gough, 29, said: ‘I never thought Tammy would last this long. She has been a permanent fixture in my life, I love her to bits and I’m dreading the day she goes.’
