Cats have an unnerving habit of getting into places where they don’t belong, hence the phrase, “Curiosity killed the cat.” Luckily curiosity didn’t kill one cat that happened to hide under a blanket and wind up in a washing machine.

Lisa Keefe, the owner of a 9-month-old cat, was doing the laundry when she heard an unusually loud banging sound coming from the machine during the spin cycle.

“I rushed to the machine and could see the color of his fur mixed in with the quilt,” Lisa said. “I was petrified.”

The cat, named Bobby, was probably hiding under a blanket in the machine when she turned it on. After a quick trip to the vet, Bobby survived but now won’t go anywhere near the washing machine. Perhaps in the future, Bobby the cat will learn that curiosity is best reserved for books and other non-life threatening situations that don’t involve getting trapped in a machine and spun around for two minutes.
