Just like many black people get discriminated across America solely because of the color of their skin, black cats also suffer from discrimination because of the color of their fur. Many people hold illogical superstitions about black cats, giving black cats the lowest adoption rates of all cats and the highest euthanasia rates as well.

So if you have room in your house for a cat, consider adopting a black cat and giving it a good home. However, wait until after Halloween because many animal shelters won’t release black cats for their own safety. That’s because some people may hurt black cats as part of Halloween.

Instead of protesting about black lives, perhaps people could also protest that black cat lives matter too. To read more about adopting a black cat after halloween, click here.
