Although it’s easy to think of people in other countries, different religions, or different skin color as inferior and frightening. Yet what brings people of all kinds together is their love for cats.

That’s why Mohammad Alaa Aljaleel, an electrician and ambulance driver, runs a sanctuary in Aleppo where he feeds and cares for more than a hundred cats, many of which were abandoned by their owners during Syria’s brutal civil war.

To further highlight the plight of Syrian’s cats, Aljaleel now posts pictures of cats surviving and thriving despite Syria’s war. After seeing kitties surviving these atrocities, it will be harder for anyone to still look at other people and distant wars as something they can easily dismiss.
