Many people harbor negative feelings towards the police, but police officers are people just like everyone else, which means they have feelings too. Perhaps nothing demonstrates how human police officers can be than the fact that many police officers love cats too.

That’s why police in Washington Heights, New York are mourning the passing of 33 Precinct member, Popo, which is slang for police officers. Popo was found eleven years ago as an abandoned kitten outside the stationhouse.

“The cops took him to the vet to have him checked out and he decided to hang around,” a spokeswoman said. “He used to come and go into the stationhouse as he pleased.”

Whether you like the police or not, you can’t help but mourn for the passing of a beloved police cat. To read more about the death of 33 Precinct’s cat, click here.
