Refugees come in all forms and they all need the help of the more fortunate. So when a family had to flee for their lives from Mosul, Iraq, they couldn’t bear to leave behind their cat, Kunkush.

After arriving on the beach of Lesvos, Kunkush jumped out of a basket and ran away. The family searched for the cat but heart-broken, decided they could afford to look no longer and moved away to the safety of Norway.

One of the volunteers spotted Kunkush and concluded it belonged to the refugee family. Through the wonders of Skype and the help of volunteers, they managed to get Kunkush back to his family in Norway.

Now a children’s book has appeared, telling the story of the lost cat. To read more about Kunkush and his remarkable story in reuniting with his family in another country, click here.
