When Hurricane Irma hit the small Caribbean island of Barbuda, it flattened houses and forced residents to evacuate to the neighboring island of Antigua. Fortunately the Antigua military arrived to assist residents and that’s when Corporal Orville Williams found a tiny orange kitten that had survived the damage.

The soldiers named the kitten Irma and cared for her the best they could. However, their limited resources meant that they couldn’t take care of the kitten for long so they surrendered her to the Antigua and Barbuda Humane Society. Now Irma the kitten will be ready for adoption to a good home.
