On October 9, a fire swept through a neighborhood in Santa Rosa so Lea Stockham grabbed her cat, Thomas, and tried to run out to the car. Unfortunately, Thomas panicked and squirmed out of her arms. With no time to search for him, the distraught family had to escape the approaching flames to save their own lives.

Even worse, then the family returned to their burnt out home, they found a charred corpse of a cat on their front porch. Thinking it was Thomas, they buried it. Then someone contacted the family and claimed to have Thomas.

Apparently a park ranger had found Thomas and a quick scan of his microchip helped identify the owners. Now the family has Thomas back although the big mystery is that they don’t know whose cat they actually buried.
