There’s nothing sadder than a room full of cages with unadopted cats inside. Fortunately for theĀ Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement shelter in North Carolina, they managed to find good homes for all their cats – except for one.

This poor cat, named Meko, wound up being the last cat left in a room full of empty cages. Shelter officials posted a video of Meko all alone, waiting for a good home for Christmas, and within hours, someone came forth and adopted Meko.

Now Meko has a new home and a Merry Christmas. The next time you dismiss social media as irrelevant, think of Meko and how social media helped Meko find a new home just in time for the holidays.
