Many police forces around the world train dogs to sniff for drugs or bombs, or track down criminals. However, very few police forces use cats. That’s because cats aren’t as easy to train but also because cats don’t do anything anyway.

That’s why it’s shocking that an Australian police force has recruited a cat to help around the station. Fortunately, the cat’s job is to hunt down rodents in stables that house the police officer’s horses. This lets the cat do what it does best without any training or interaction with police officers whatsoever, and ignoring people is what cats do best.
