If you work with the United States overseas or can prove a political need for getting out of your country and coming to the United States, you can get refugee status. This will allow you to legally come to America and start a new life.

While this refugee program is geared for humans, it can also work for felines as well. Hooch grew up in the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan but when the order came down to eliminate all stray cats from the embassy, diplomats hatched a solution to sneak Hooch out of the country and into the safety of the United States.

Now Hooch is starting a new life in North Carolina, thanks to his refugee status that allowed him to come to America in the first place.
