Gypsy, a cat in Phoenix, climbed a telephone pole and got stuck there over the weekend. When a local Phoenix TV station posted live video of Gypsy stranded on the telephone pole, people flooded 911 with calls to help the cat.

Officials from the Salt River Project utility company sent a crew to rescue the cat but a neighbor simply put a ladder against the telephone pole and brought the cat down. While admirable, this put the rescuer at risk of falling or electrocuting himself if he had hit a live wire with the ladder.

Fortunately, Gypsy is now safe and back on the ground once more. Hopefully Gypsy won’t get stuck on a pole any time in the future but at least there are plenty of people willing to help Gypsy get back down again.
