when people want to adopt a cat, black cats are usually overlooked along with senior cats. After all, most people want a cat that will be with them for a long time. Black cats get overlooked because of their color and senior cats get passed by because of their age and health issues.

That’s why a 26-year old cat named Thomas is getting a second chance. His former owner was no longer able to care for him so Thomas wound up in the Baltimore County Animal Services shelter.

Fortunately, Laura Cassiday, 27 (just one year older than Thomas) decided to adopt him. Although there’s no guarantee how long Thomas will last given his health issues, he’ll at least live out the rest of his life as a beloved pet in a good home rather than spend his last days in a shelter cage.
