Every cat needs a litter box. Unfortunately, litter boxes often smell bad, so how can you minimize or even eliminate the obnoxious odors that waft from an open litter box?

The simplest solution is to clean the litter box daily. Clean litter obviously smells far better than soiled litter. Another option is to feed your cat higher quality food. Cheap cat food will likely create a smelly mess.

Finally, consider the type of litter in the litter box. Some kitty litter brands work better than others but you can always supplement any litter with a generous sprinkling of baking soda so there’s no reason to tolerate a smelly litter box unless you want to.
