After a £1.2m refurbishment, the Dereham cat adoption centre will open with help of several celebrities. First, Rick Wakeman, the keyboardist from the group Yes, will help cut the ribbon. Wakeman owns three rescue cats of his own.

Also on hand will be Mandy Morton, the author of The No 2 Feline Detective Agency series, who will read an extract from her latest Hettie Bagshot book, “Magical Mystery Paws.” The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be on September 22 so be there if you can and help celebrate the reopening of a cat adoption centre.
