When the Camp Fire wiped out Paradise, California, Cheryl Valente was caught in the disaster. When she spotted flames near her trailer, she grabbed her cat, Chelsea, and ran to her car. Unfortunately, her car wouldn’t start.

As the fires destroyed home after home, Cheryl ran with Chelsea, looking for shelter. She finally found a laundry room in a home to hide in. For two days, Cheryl and Chelsea survived until Cheryl could flag down a passing police car.
