A consumer robotics company called Anki sells tiny robots that rely on artificial intelligence to navigate their surroundings. While these robots can manage to get around furniture just fine, they don’t know how to deal with moving animals such as cats.

To help train their robots to recognize pets, Anki let their robots loose in a cat cafe to take pictures of cats. By learning how to detect cats, these robots will be able to recognize cats in homes and navigate around them. Who knew that lounging cats could contribute so much to science one day?
