For the past six years, Stormy the cat has lounged around a general store in Homer, Alaska after being rescued from a shelter. Unfortunately, the Alaska Department Of Environmental Conservation’s Food Safety And Sanitation Program told the store’s owners that Stormy’s presence is a food-safety violation, and the cat has to go.

Of course, sanitation officials neglect the fact that a cat can catch rodents and help keep the place more sanitary since it’s unlikely any place can keep rodents out of their premises. Still, until government officials change their mind, Stormy will have to live at a home instead of the store for sanitary reasons because nothing’s more sanitary than having rodents climb all over a place.
