Every year in Japan, the zoo trains its staff how to deal with an escaped lion. Naturally they can’t use a real lion so they just hire a man to dress up in a lion costume and run around pretending to be an escaped lion.

Then zookeepers surround the lion with nets and practice catching it and shooting it with a tranquilizer dart. Whether real zookeepers would stand still while a real lion charges at them remains to be seen, but training has to give people a semblance of reality so they can eventually deal with a real escaped lion.
