Senior citizens are often lonely, so it makes sense to get them a pet. However, you don’t want to give a senior citizen any type of pet without taking into account how that pet might react to a senior citizen’s lifestyle.
Most senior citizens can’t care for large dogs but they can care for cats, since cats are largely independent with minimal maintenance issues. If you know of a senior citizen who might be open to having company, consider getting that person a cat.
