Cat cafes started in Asia as a place where people could enjoy a snack and a beverage while hanging out in a room full of cats they could pet and play with. The cat cafe trend soon spread across Asia to the rest of the world and now North America is fairly catching up.
Des Moines, Iowa is the latest American city to get a cat cafe dubbed Coffee Cats. Owner Mary Jankowski hopes to open the coffee shop in in 2020 with the Animal Rescue League providing the cats that will be in the cafe.
