Many people get a cat for companionship, which is an excellent reason along with giving a cat a good home. However, there are other reasons to get a cat beyond companionship.

A 2010 survey of British pet owners by the University of Bristol found that people who owned cats were more likely to have a college degree than similar their dog owning counterparts. In 2014, a researcher in Wisconsin surveyed 600 college students and found that cat owners were actually more intelligent as well.

A British poll found that 82 percent of women agreed they are more attracted to men who like animals. More amazing is that 90 percent of single women said that men who own a cat are “nicer” than other guys. That’s because a cat likely pre-trained the man to be docile and subservient.
