New Zealand votes annual for the New Zealander of the Year. This year’s nominations include a hardworking civil servant, a prime minister, and a cat named Mittens.

Mittens repeatedly wanders into places such as the university, the post office, and a Catholic church. An official even started a Facebook page for Mittens to let everyone know that Mittens wasn’t homeless but just struck by wanderlust.

With Mittens’s popularity, people are now voting to make Mittens New Zealander of the Year. Given the types of people you meet nowadays, a cat deserves to be honored above most of the human race.
