Andrew Lloyd Webber has created amazing musicals. Although “Cats” was a Broadway smash, the movie left much to be desired despite its cast of major stars including Judi Dench, Taylor Swift, and Idris Elba.
Andrew Lloyd Webber says the main reason “Cats” worked in the theater but not in the movies is that in the theater, the cast could interact with the audience but they can’t do that in a movie. Then again, “Cats” lacks an actual story, which no amount of special effects, music, and A-list celebrities can overcome.
