Cats like to climb trees but they don’t know how to climb down again. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, a family in Rochester, New York woke up to find their cat, Flock, stuck in a tree.

When the fire department refused to respond, one of the cat’s owners climbed the tree to rescue the cat — and got stuck as well. That prompted the fire department to come out to rescue the human and the cat at the same time.

To keep a cat from climbing a tree, it’s best to give it plenty of climbing opportunities at home. Then try keeping the cat indoors instead of letting it roam freely. If your cat does get stuck in a tree, call a cat rescuer who can come out and save your cat from itself.
