Researchers believe that bacteria, spread through cat scratches can have a startling effect on the human brain. One boy wound up experiencing violent psychosis and delusional episodes.
However, a heavy treatment of antibiotics cleared up the problem. While this particular boy was cured, researchers are worried that this bacteria, spread by cat scratches, could be the source of additional violent episodes in people that may be going undiagnosed.
So if people think you’re crazy for loving your cat so much, they may be right. Just warn people who hate cats that you’ll go crazy on them if they get too close.
