Back in 1952, a cat wandered into the Old Idaho Penitentiary. The inmates secretly cared for the cat but when the prison officials discovered it, they let the inmates keep the cat as a reward for good behavior.

The cat, nicknamed Dennis, had the run of the prison. Unfortunately after sixteen years, Dennis died in his sleep in 1968. Officials put an official headstone for Dennis the Cat, making his headstone the only one within the prison’s walls. That just shows how valued a cat can be in breaking all the rules and getting away with it.
