Some people are dog lovers while others are cat lovers. But is there a preference for either dogs or cats based on whether you’re a conservative or a liberal? According to the Public Policy Polling group based in the United States, the answer is yes.

In the debate between dogs and cats, the dogs win. 57% of conservatives prefer dogs while 49% of liberals favor dogs. Yet 17% of conservatives favor cats while 27% of liberals prefer cats.

Most likely most people prefer dogs because they’re easier to control. Cats are far more independent and thus wildly unpredictable. So whether you’re a conservative or a liberal, neither side has a fighting chance keeping a cat under control.
