A recent survey of pet owners in Australia found that 100% of dog owners reported their dogs loved the fact that their owners were home all the time during the pandemic lockdown. However, only 50% of cat owners reported their cats were happy with them being home. That means the other 50% of cats did not like their owners being home all the time.

Veterinary behaviorist Stephanie Borns-Weil noted that “Cats can be overwhelmed by having people around when they weren’t expecting them, especially young kids, who tend to add more noise and chaos.” So if your cat doesn’t hate you being home, consider yourself lucky. That means spending more time and money rewarding your cat for being so tolerant of your presence.
