If you own a cat, you know you also own a walking and breathing vomit machine. After cleaning up yet another hairball on the floor that you likely stepped on in your bare feet, you may wonder why cats vomit so often at all.

The answer is because they can. After all, they’re not the ones cleaning it up. However cats may vomit due to hairballs, diet, or just to keep you grossed out as often as possible. In most cases, cat vomit isn’t serious but just a minor hazard to avoid.
