With Christmas approaching, many people enjoy getting a tree and decorating it. However if you have cats, be aware that a Christmas tree is a potential safety hazard. Not only are pine needles toxic to cats, but tinsel can be dangerous too as well as the water used in the pan that holds a tree.

If you’re going to get a Christmas tree and you have cats, make sure you cat-proof your tree. Sweep up pine needles so your cat can’t eat them and cover the water for your tree so your cat won’t drink it. Then again, it might be easier just to get an artificial tree to insure your cat stays healthy during the holidays.
