In Colorado, a pet cat tested positive for the bubonic plague. Officials believe the cat got bubonic plague from a rat it may have caught at a nearby park.

Fortunately the bubonic plague can be treated with antibiotics but officials warn cat owners to keep their pets away from wild animals of any kind. With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging around the world, the last thing any cat owner needs is to worry about the bubonic plague in their cat.
