When you get a cat, you pretty much lose the right to have anything valuable and expensive in your house because the cat will either knock it over or scratch it apart. So if you insist on getting a cat, you should also consider getting furniture your cat can’t destroy.
Look for furniture with hard surfaces that you cat won’t want to scratch, or soft surfaces that are not conveniently located where a cat might scratch it up. No matter how many scratching posts you may get, you can be sure your cat will still target your futnirue so make sure your furniture can survive your cat.
