It’s always a good idea to get your cat microchipped so that way if it gets lost or separated from you, a veterinarian can scan for a microchip and help reunite you with your pet. While some cats with microchips get reunited with their owners after a few years, a cat named Ritz has set a record for being reunited with its owners after 16 years.
Ritz ran out of the apartment in 2006. Then a woman who had been feeding Ritz found that he had a serious leg injury so she brought him to a veterinarian who discovered the microchip. That microchip let Ritz finally reunite with his owners 16 years later.
