When most people think of Philadelphia, they think of cheese steaks and the Liberty Bell. However, if you think of cats, you may be surprised to find that households in the Philadelphia metropolitan area have a higher percentage of cat ownership among the country’s 15 largest metro areas: 568,000, or 23%. Seattle comes in second at 22%.

Why so many cat lovers have congregated around Philadelphia remains a mystery, but it’s nice to know in case you have a cat and need to move to a major city in America. Surprisingly, Miami is dead last in cat ownership, which may say something about the people in Miami if they don’t love cats.
