When Meaghan Swetish first adopted Gus the cat 11 years ago, she noticed that Gus enjoyed wandering outside. At first he’d roam around the outdoors and come home, but then he started disappearing for longer and longer periods of time, sometimes disappearing for days.

Then one day, Gus never came home. Three years later, someone spotted Gus limping and recognized him. Now Gus is safe back at home and his wandering days appear to be over. That shows that cats, just like humans, sometimes need to get their wander lust out of their system while they’re young.
