Everyone knows that cats can be jerks at times, knocking fragile items off a table or bookshelf just to watch it crash on the floor. However, a 48-year old man was bitten by a stray cat in the United Kingdom and contracted a species of bacterium that scientists have never seen before.

His hand swelled up and antibiotics were initially unsuccessful. Doctors had to perform surgery and give him antibiotics intravenously before his wounds could successfully heal. That means don’t mess with a stray cat. Just when we thought cats could rule the human race through cuteness, they’ve apparently now resorted to germ warfare as well.
