Since cats can’t talk, they need to show their affection in other ways. One way that cats can show their affection is by meowing at you. This may sound like they’re giving you orders (and they are), but it’s also because cats want to communicate with the people they love (and want to boss around).

Another way cats communicate is through their tail. A curled tail in the air shows they like you as well as a quivering tail that shows they’re excited to be with you. If your cat head butts you, that’s another sign of affection even though it may feel more like your cat is simply messing with your mind (which they are).
