Cats sleep 25 hours a day, but they don’t always sleep the same way. Every cat sleeps in different positions and by knowing what those positions mean, you can decipher your cat’s thoughts and feelings.

For example, cats that sleep on their backs leave their belly exposed, which means they feel safe (unless, of course, you touch their belly and surprise them). Other cats sleep in a loaf position, which protects their belly while also letting them leap into action at a moment’s notice. By simply studying your cat’s sleeping positions, you can tell whether your cat feels safe around you and in your home.
